Mangalore: Fr Joseph Jerald Lobo New Director of St Joseph Engineering College

Mangalore, May 22: Father Joseph Jerald Lobo who has been the director designate of St Joseph Engineering College is appointed as the director of SJEC, by the Bishop of Mangalore. Fr Lobo is installed as the second director of SJEC here recently.
The installation program was presided over by Bishop’s delegate Fr Patrick Rodrigues, director of Fr Muller Charitable Institutions, Mangalore.
The program was led by a prayer service by Fr Henry Mascarenhas, assistant director of SJEC. Dr Rio D’Souza, dean academics welcomed the gathering.
Bishop’s delegate officially declared the installation of the new director. The outgoing director Fr Valerian D’Souza expressed his gratitude for the strongest support that he received from his superiors, benefactors, faculty, students and their families in building this college in these past ten years and requested to offer their unceasing support to the new director.
Fr Joseph in his address expressed that trusting in the strength of God that he embraces this responsibility. He also acknowledged the trust and confidence of his superiors and will work as a team in leading this college both in service and excellence.
Dr Joseph Gonsalves, principal, on behalf of the college faculty and administrative staff offered his best wishes. The heads of the department, deans and other college staff offered floral greetings to the director.
The program was compeered by Roshni Pinto, assistant professor, electronics and communications. Dr Prakash Pinto, dean of MBA proposed the vote of thanks.
Fr Joseph Lobo
Fr Joseph Lobo is dearly known as Fr Jossie or Joe in the diocese of Mangalore. He was ordained as a priest of the diocese of Mangalore in 1998 and early in his priesthood served as an assistant parish priest, St Sebastian Church, Bendur. In the year 2000, he was appointed as the vocation director of the diocese of Mangalore. He also served simultaneously as the director of Gladsom Home, a home for seminary candidates who study PUC studies and mentor of college seminarians.
From 2003 through 2009, he served in the diocese of Rockville Centre as an associate pastorate the parish of St Raphael in East Meadow. Father Joe obtained his bachelor’s degree in theology from St Joseph’s Seminary in Mangalore, India affiliated with Urbaniana University, Rome and a masters in English literature from the Karnataka Open University, Mysore. He also holds masters degree, MBA in management from Molloy College, New York, United States.
Father Joe expresses his deep gratitude to Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza and Fr Valerian D’Souza the outgoing director, for their confidence in him. He says “I am humbled as well as excited for this opportunity. I want to offer my best selflessly towards the growth of this College”.
