Karkala, Jul 26: For the past one and a half month, a drain has been causing foul smell at the newly built Bandimatta bus stop, still, the local administration has not taken any measures, allege locals.

The reason behind this foul smell is the faulty sewage system. Rain water from flats and other buildings pass through this sewage system resulting in the problem. As the water pressure becomes more, the water leaks out emanating foul smell in the area.

Despite several complaints to the local administration, there has been no positive response from them so far, say the locals.

Drainage system meant for sewage water has now stopped functioning due to the problems created by rain water. Karkala municipality which is creating awareness among people about communicable diseases has forgotten to take action regarding the foul smell in bus stop area, said a local.

Udupi and Hebri buses arrive and depart from the bus stop while KSRTC buses pass without entering the bus stop. Due to water logging, several people have been injured due to bike skid, or due to difficulty in walking through this area. There is need for immediate action by the local administration to leave this water to gutter and also close an open ditch in the area.
