Dubai: Norbert Sequeira elected president of Ferarties-UAE

Dubai, Jul 13: Norbert Sequeira was unanimously elected the president of Ferarties-UAE, for the next term at the general body meeting held at Karama, Dubai, on Friday July 10.

Norbert Sequeira is a well-known personality among the Mangalureans residing in Dubai. His contribution towards liturgical activities in St Mary’s Church, Dubai especially for the Konkan community has been immense. He has served Mangaluru diocesan ICYM central council (Indian Catholic Youth Movement, Bishop’s house, Mangaluru) for three consecutive terms (as a treasurer and secretary for two terms). He is the ex-president of ICYM Ferar.


Norbert Sequeira

Norbert Sequeira is also the founder member of well-known organization 'Konkan Taram', Jerimeri, Mumbai. He has served as a parish council secretary of St Jude’s Church, Jerimeri, Mumbai, and worked as a core committee member of St Mary's Konkan community, Dubai. He has also served as a Eucharistic minister in St Mary's Church, Dubai, and is presently a member of Readers Sodality in the same church.

He is a founder member of Ferarites UAE and has served as its vice-president and advisory committee member for several years.

Ferarties-UAE, an association of Ferarites living in the UAE, is a premier social, cultural and charitable organization, affiliated to St Francis Xavier Church, Ferar, Mangaluru.


The new committee comprises the following members:

• Norbert Sequeira : President
• Roshan Lobo : Vice-president and media coordinator
• Prakash Peris : General secretary
• Rosetta Pereira : Treasurer
• Leslie Pinto : Internal auditor
• Clara Fernandes : Cultural secretary
• Alwyn Fernandes : Core committee member
• Nicole Fernandes : Core committee member

Advisory Committee: Vincent Pereira, Leslie Fernandes, Lawrence V Cutinha

During the past 8 years, Ferarites UAE has supported several activities back home and other parts of India in the field of education, health and in meeting the needs of economically weak and downtrodden. 'Ferarites-UAE Education Trust Fund', established at SFX Church Ferar, supports the needs of underprivileged young students.

Outgoing president Lawrence V Cutinha thanked and appreciated all the members for standing by the Association in carrying out its activities smoothly. He thanked all the well-wishers, benefactors and sponsors for their support during the last 8 years which helped Ferarites to fulfill its obligations towards the society. He further thanked all the media sponsors for their overwhelming support in reaching out to the people.

New president Norbert Sequeira thanked all the members for selecting him as the president for the next term. He solicited support of all the members to achieve the goals of Ferarites-UAE, that is, 'Reaching out and touching lives of less fortunate'.
