Tel Aviv, Aug 17: The Konkan Catholic Sangatan, Israel, organized a twin programme on the occasion of Indian independence and the feast of assumption of Mother Mary, at the Bet Barbour Cultural Hall, Tel- Aviv, on Friday, August 15.
Fr Jaysheelan, Assistant Parish Priest, Tiberia, Israel, along with Fr Paul Rego (Parish priest, Gurupura Kaikamba Church), and Fr Lawrence Rodrigues (Parish priest, Bellman Church), offered the Eucharistic Mass joined by the laity.
Following the mass, stage programmes were held and this was attended first secretary of the Indian Embassy His Excellency Sharad Srivatsav, Konkan Catholic Sangatan president Steven D'Mello Pamboor, KCS Organiser Melwyn Furtado Bajpe and secretary Roshan Monteiro Omzoor. Fr Jayasheelan, Fr Lawrence Rodrigues and Fr Paul Rego were guests of honor during the occasion.
As a symbolic representation, chief guest Sharad Srivatsav, paid homage to the Tricolour, and addressed the gathering. Prizes were distributed to the winners of Throw-ball, Volley-Ball and Cricket conducted by KCS on account of Independence Day.
There was a renditioning of 'Vande Mataram', and the 'Konkan Beats' mesmerized the audience with their melodious singing. Praveen Pereira Taccode, and his troupe, performed a magic show. 'Konkan Naach' gave a sizzling dance performance. Well-known dramatists and comedians Wilson Kulshekar, and Wilfy Mascarehnas, presented jokes that had the audience roaring with laughter.
Praveen Pereira (Taccode) the Vice President of KCS welcomed the gathering and Nancy Lasrado (Derebail) the Asst. Secretary of KCS proposed Vote of Thanks. Alfred (Goa) and Shaila Horta (Honnavar) compered the Stage function.
A crowd of more than 800 Indians were present on this occasion. The show was compered by Roshan Monteiro (Omzoor).
