Bengaluru, Aug 29: Deputy chief minister Dr G Parameshwara said all diesel transport buses in the city will be replaced by electric buses over the next five years.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Eighth Bus World Exhibition at International Exhibition centre near Peenya in Bengaluru on Wednesday, August 29.

Dr Parameshwara said the city has become the main focus point in last two decades and had shown rapid progress in various fields such as Aerospace, Information Technology and Biotechnology, Industry, Science and Research.

Over 70 lac vehicles plied on the city roads everyday besides over 6000 vehicles belonging to Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation. Majority of these vehicles run on diesel resulting in large scale smoke pollution.

As a result, he said introduction of electric buses would be a better solution and considerably reduce pollution.

He also said there were no organised roads and the traffic has become the basic problem.

The deputy chief minister hoped the event would result in more investments in the transport sector with a large number of participation by various countries such as China, Korea, Australia and Belgium which had also engaged in technology transfer.

Sir can you stop Fekuism. First building motorable roads in Karnataka that too in DK. electric buses can come later once the roads are made. No point in spending money while there is no roads in Karnataka, unless you have some hidden interest in this project.

Very good move. But it has to be extended to the whole state, or at least the major cities. Here in Mangalore the smoke-belching buses are not just a health hazard, they are a menace. However, as expected, private bus owners of Dakshina Kannada will be up in arms against such move citing exorbitant cost of the buses and conveniently ignore the low running cost, even if they are given 10 years' time to change over. Whenever they raise their ugly head, it is important for the administration to present all facts about viability of electric buses and shut the mouth of the lobby.

What a big relief to know that Diesel driven busses will be replaced by electric driver busses. What a big boost for the environment, and what a big gift in saving pollution.

When the demand for bus services will continue to grow, let their be pollution free busses moving back and forth in the busy city of Mangalore where people will be helped a great deal in avoiding the fuel emissions. This will be big benefit for helping create a cleaner environment.

All those that are instrumental in bringing these electric driver busses need be applauded because it is thru their initiatives and effort we all will enjoy a cleaner air and clean environment.

Thank God, finally as I've said earlier, much of the transport used is heavy vehicles and buses that use diesel. Electricity and solar is final solution to all your answers which is abundant from sun. Autos as well should use electric alone.
