Udupi: Muslims across district vow to fight Citizenship Amendment Act

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (HB)

Udupi, Dec 13: Condemning the passage of the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill, which has now become an Act with President Kovind giving his nod, Muslims across Udupi district staged protests in their respective mosque premises here on Friday December 13.

Protesting under the banner of Muslim Okkuta at the Jamia Masjid here, Maulana Rashid Ahmad Nadvi of Jamia Masjid said, "Neither Hindus nor Muslims are happy with this Bill. The Bill should not have been passed. We will fight this to the very end in the Supreme Court. We will keep up our fight until justice is done. Muslims are ready for the struggle. Protests will be held in various places in the same way till we get justice. I pray that God gives us strength and courage to fight against this Bill. May God weaken those people who are trying hard to implement the Bill."

Yasin Malpe, district president of Muslim Okkuta said, "The Citizenship Amendment Bill will disrupt the harmony in the nation. It is creating distrust and a sense of vengefulnness among communities where people now have love, trust, faith, confidence in each other. It is a conspiracy of the RSS and Sangh Parivar to divide people of different religions. It divides citizens on the basis of their religion and faith. Muslim freedom fighters are being treated as second class.

"The Muslim Okkutta will fight till the union government withdraws the Citizenship Amendment Bill. This is just a symbolic protest to sensitize the people on the issue. A huge protest will be held on December 15 at Martyrs memorial ground in Ajjarkad," he announced.

Mohammed Maulana, secretary, Muslim Okkuta, Yasin Sayyad, president of Jamia Masjid, Salauddin Abdulla, Rasheed Ahmad, Hussain Bengre, Khasim Barkur, Khalid, Nisar Uppinakote, secretary, Jamat-e-Islami-Hind, Udupi, Yasin Kodibengre of SIO, Nazeer Ambagilu, district president of PFI and others were present.

Protests were also held at Jamia Masjid, Nejar, Athrady Jumma Masjid, Gangolli Central Jumma Masjid and Gangolli Mohiuddin Jumma Masjid in Kundapur, Kaup, Kombagudde and other mosques.

The act will ask all the citizens of this country to provide proofs and these proofs are available with avery indian irrespective of cast religion or creed as he since past four to five years needs the same to get any and all sort of services , hence the fear is unnecassary. its half a decade since our independence and i believe is enough time to creat proof of citizenship and still if some one does not have it its need to be checked and verified

All the places in India are not so forward as Udupi and Mangalore. India is a small world itself. There are so poor people and they are in millions and they may not even have their birth certificate.
And it is very easy for you to say because you only need to show your caste certificate to get nationality through CAB Act; and it doesn't matter for you if you have or don't have the documents.

If it were to give shelter in India, for persecuted Hindus and other religion people from neighbouring countries; then I don't mind all the minorities coming to India for getting freedom of life here in India. I damn care about Population explosion. Justice comes before everything else.
But here BJp is just playing vote bank politics combined with the intention of disturbing and sidelining Indian Muslims.

And my perception is based upon current affairs of our Country.

Do you believe a person who repeatedly lies about himself( internet and digital camera usage) and his advice to Indian Armed.forces about Radar.

Do you believe who talks about eradication of corruption and selected Ajit Pawar as a deputy CM who is.accused in 70000 crore scam.

Do you believe a person who told Beti Bachvo and he was silent when his party sided with accused in the gang rape of 8 year old Asifa in J& K.

I can list so many and so on...

Those who say that these are unnecessary protests; just answer me -

There are 19 lakhs people in small state of Assam who failed to enlist in NCR as Indian Citizens; out of which 5,40,000 people are Hindus.
Do you think that all these 5,40,000 Hindus crossed to India because of Persecution in Bangladesh? It is not at all true (considering the fact the Passports are already being issued to these immigants before CAB also). If it were to be true, then why Amit Shah was silent until now, when BJp is very close to Bangladesh Prime Minister?. If it were to be really true; it would have been an International issue already.
So, The actual reason of these many Hindu immigrants crossing to India is the Financial betterment; the same reason for which Muslim Bangladeshis also crossed to Indian borders.

Having said all these things; main concern of Indian Muslims is not that the government is giving Indian Nationality to Non Muslims from Bangladesh and other countries. The main concern is the not allowing Indian Nationality to the Indian Muslims who fail to submit their documents and forcced to spend their entire life in Detention shelters; whereas all Non- Muslims who fail TO SUBMIT their documents in NRC will anyway get Indian Nationality through the Non- Muslim clause of the CAB.
Dont you people think that there is an Hidden AGENDA when you see the Combined effect these two laws.

Those who favour this law; can you tell me that -

Who is going to conduct enquiry about which immigrant is persecuted and who is not in the neighbouring countries before crossing borders to India? (So, in reality this is like giving Citizenship to every immigrant other than Muslims.
We met some Bangladeshis (Non Muslims) in Kuwait who said that they are already getting Indian Passports for long time before this CAB (There are already laws that provides Citizenship to persecuted Minorities). Then, when we asked them for the reason they cross to India, he replied that - Its because most gulf countries have ban (except Munucipality labour job) on visa from Bangladesh; and when they get Indian Passport; they can come to these gulf countries with Indian Visa.

I did not understand the discontentment of Indian citizens about CAB.

CAB is only about granting citizenship to illegal minority immigrants.

Why our fellow citizens are worried?

Are they saying we need to grant citizenship to illegal majority immigrants who have come from Pak, Bangala and Afghan? They can very well settle in their respective countries. They are in huge numbers and have created social issues in some parts of our region. We need to restrict them and solve those issues.

CAB is about giving shelter/kind of an asylum to persecuted minorities from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Try to understand the reality and truth. Muslim majorities from these nations are and can not be persecuted there hence not be part of CAB. Very purpose of CAB. Why to play politics here? It's a matter of law.
Then where there is discrimination in CAB?
Discrimination happens, when one is PERSECUTED on the basis of faith/religion.
Assam and North East people are protesting because, already their region is filled with infiltrators from neighbouring Bangladesh.
They fear Bangla language out number Assamese.
Assamese saying they have huge Bangladeshi people, more influx likely, after implementing this law. They say, it's enough, we don't want any more Bangladeshi, be it from any community!

Indian muslims should support this bill,it gives equal right and impotence to them as other community enjoys, and it erase the gap between muslims and other community of our country what earlier govts erected for their vote bank. This bill gives importence for better fraternity with all community citizens those are original citizens and living legally in this country.
So don't fall again in the Trap of past govts who played vote bank politics doing nothing.
Let illegally and infiltered people ousted from our country.

Dont you think this is a damn humiliation for Muslim community who has to prove his citizenship providing documents? Will you keep quiet if this bill introduced against you? Lots of issues you don't understand. This govt moving with an agenda scripted from Nagpur Headquarter. Moreover the timing is very much understood when economy is hitting its worst crisis. It has nothing to do with existing citizens, irrespective of religion. Issue is creating and amending constitution based on religion is against the core of india. If us toddy is to turn down hindus, based on their religious identity, how does it look. Not just us, every other country can turn down hindus, is it fair? Sometime we are so carried away with our religious identity, that we demean our heart which feels, mind which thinks.

Agreed there is some kind of unfair treatment towards sects like Shias, Sufis, Ahmadias, etc. but they are not oppressed or persecuted like other minority religions. They cannot be persecuted owing to their strong presence in Pakistan. Many are owners of big businesses and some are holding high positions in the govt. For example, the present army general is a Ahmadi. Unlike other religions the population of these sects has not decreased, their percentage almost remains the same. CAB has been enacted upon ascertaining all these facts.

Yes I wish our neighbouring countries also enact such a law (tit for tat) offering protection to minorities persecuted in India. Let’s see how many are ready to leave the country. Pakistan and Bangladesh should invite all those who are protesting against CAB. This law should be a lesson to Pakistan to mend their ways and improve the conditions and treatment of minorities so as to prevent them from leaving their homes.

If there had been no draconian blasphemy law in Pakistan, perhaps there would have been no need to enact CAB in India. It's high time neighbouring countries should mend their ways and take measures for fair treatment and protection of minorities so that they are not forced to leave their country.
