Udupi, Jan 14: ‘Nighuda Mouna’, a short film was screened recently. The film is on womanhood, motherhood, sacrifice and penance.
The film is directed by Navya, a young teacher hailing from Udupi. She spent good 4 to 5 years amidst the community to study the hardships they go through in their day-to- day life.
The urge to convey her findings to the public and to create social awareness of prevailing issues, motivated her to learn direction on her own through YouTube and other social platforms to put forth a very promising display of her communication and direction skills by conveying her visualization in a way that reached out to the audience in the way it was meant to be. She says "Every shot I directed was my visualisation. The issues touched upon in the movie are the subject, womanhood, motherhood, sacrifice and penance."
She has even composed a song with touching lyrics, the dialogues and subtitles are written by the director of the Kannada short movie Niguda Mouna.
The movie is produced by Nayak Brothers.
“With the blessings of Sai Baba and Shani Maharaja, mother, and all the elders, and immense support from my husband Janardhan Nayak who produced the movie, and with my most hardworking and supportive team, I could do this movie. Special thanks to all my technicians who trusted me completely and supported me,” she says.
The 34-minute film will be screened at all film festivals this year.
The camera work is handled by Rohith Ampar, editor is Harish Kiran Tunga, music and background music by Karthik Raj, art director is Shashi Shetty, make-up and costume designed by Chethan Nelyady and Lokesh Urubail wrote the screenplay.
