Mangaluru, Aug 20: Bharat Scouts and Guides district chief commissioner, Dr N G Mohan, said that efforts to open a plasma collection centre through either the Indian Redcross Blood Bank or Wenlock Blood Bank where plasma would be collected from those who have been healed of corona infection are on. He said that the plasma so collected would be used to treat coronavirus-infected people.
He was speaking at a programme organized at Scouts and Guides Hall at Lalbagh here for the distribution of certificates issued by the state unit to SSLC COVID warriors on Wednesday, August 19. He urged the COVID warriors to get in touch with corona patients numbering to over 2,000 who have recovered from coronavirus and convince them to donate their plasma.
The special officer in the office of the joint director of collegiate education here Dr Sridhar Maniyani, city north block education officer Sadananda Poonja, district scouts commissioner Ramashesha Shetty and others were present.
Appreciation letters and thank you badges issued by the state unit to 181 SSLC COVID-19 warriors were presented to those who helped in conducting SSLC examination smoothly on the occasion. Senior scouts and guides rovers-rangers, scouter-guiders, received these certificates. MLA, U T Khader, hailed scouts and guides for serving the cause of coronavirus voluntarily. A volume comprising photos and documents brought out in sweet memory of volunteers who served during the SSLC examination was handed over to Mangaluru block education officer Sadananda Poonja by the chief commissioner Dr N G Mohan.
