Bantwal, Jul 29: The heavy rain partially damaged a school building in Sajipanadu village on the night of Wednesday July 28.
Many classrooms of the school collapsed in the rain. The condition of a large hall was precarious and this was informed to the education department by the school authorities at the beginning of the academic year.
Tahsildar Ravichandra Nayak, zilla panchayat member Ummer Farouq, and block education officer (BEO) K Sudhakar visited the damaged school on Thursday July 29.
BEO Sudhakar advised the school’s headmaster to temporarily conduct classes in other available rooms till the new building is ready in a year.
Farouq said that efforts will be made to construct a new building on the site of the collapsed building with financial assistance from Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. Discussions were held with the BEO to conduct classes without causing hindrance to others.
The school authorities declared a holiday on Thursday. BEO Sudhakar announced a holiday on Friday July 30 for all the schools in the taluk to facilitate normalcy at the earliest.
The zilla panchayat engineering divisional officers, Sajipanadu gram panchayat president S K Mohammed, school development committee president Abbas, taluk panchayat member Praveen Alva, Jamiat-ul unit former president T K Basheer, and local leader Abubakker Sajipa also visited the damaged school.
