Mangalore, Aug 3: The residents of Kaikamba have complained in a letter to P N Gawasane, project director, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) about the damaged stretch of road on national highway 13 from Nantoor to Kaikamba.

The corporator of the area Mariam K Thomas submitted the letter at Gawasane's office on Tuesday August 3.

Speaking to reporters, the corporator said that Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) commissioner Dr Vijayprakash had repeatedly told the officers in charge to repair the roads several times, but they never responded positively.

“The people of the locality are facing inconvenience from damaged roads in the area. The officials are being irresponsible and corporator has to bear the brunt of the fury of the people”, she said.

The letter also comprised a statement saying if the potholes on the road are not repaired by Wednesday August 11, the corporator, with the help of local people would repair the road themselves and stage a protest against the apathy of the officers.

Praveen Patrao, Sushil Noronha, Stany D’Souza and Alvyn D’Souza accompanied the corporator.
