M'lore: Deep Sea Fishing Activities Begin in City

Mangalore, Aug 4: After 57 days of inactivity due to ban, about 25 fishermen ventured into deep sea fishing on from south wharf here on Tuesday August 3.

Deep sea fishing on mechanized boats has been banned from July 15 to August 10 for a period of 57 days. Since it takes about a week to reach the middle of the sea, the fishermen as practiced began their journey on Tuesday evening. 

Fishermen are hopeful of garnering good catch this time around as compared to the last season for the sea is not very turbulent. This season as many as 500 ordinary boats and 1,000 mechanized boats will ventured into the sea.
