Haveri, Sep 2: Recruitment process under Agnipath scheme began from September 1.
On the first day of selection process that is undertaken at the Hosamani Siddappa district stadium here, 1,252 candidates from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada (DK) district took part.
On Friday September 2, 2538 candidates from Dharwad will take part in the process which is going to be held till September 20.
Speaking about the process deputy commissioner Sanjya Shettannavar said, “For the Agniveer selection process, 58,218 candidates from 11 districts have registered online. The recruitment authority has given the information about the days and dates on which candidates from particular district have to take part. On the first day, out of the 1857 candidates registered from the districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, 1,252 participated. 104 people got qualified in the running test and are attending next round of examinations. They will have medical fitness test on Friday.
“More people have to get recruited to Indian Army from Karnataka. Organizations of Haveri, marriage halls, owners of community halls and public has come forward to provide free food and accommodation to the candidates. District level nodal officers are nominated in every accommodation facility,” he said.
