Beltangady: Thimarodi, Sowjanya's parents get grand welcome; CID steps up probe

Beltangady, Oct 14: A day after they made sensational claims regarding the mysterious death of Sowjanya on a news channel, Hindu leader Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi and Sowjanya’s parents received a grand welcome by the people of Beltangady on national highway at Gundi here on Sunday October 13.
Thimarodi, Sowjanya's father Chandappa gowda, mother Kusumavati, uncle Vittal Gowda came from Bangalore after taking part in the interview done by the TV channel.
The vehicle rally commenced from Gundia and passed through Kokkada, Dharmasthala, Ujire and culminated in Beltangady town. The rally was flanked by hundreds of people.
Addressing the rally, Sri Esha Vittaldas Swamiji of Kemar Math said, "The real culprits should be caught. I will fight till Sowjanya gets justice."
Mahesh Shetty Thimarody express happiness at the support shown by the locals. "This case should be handed over to CBI or else mass campaign will be launched," he warned.
Thimarodi and Sowjanya's parents had claimed in a press meet in Mangalore and then on an interview on a news channel that powerful people were behind the murder case. They had also levelled allegations at Dr Veerendra Heggade's nephew, which the Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari later rubbished stating that his nephew was studying in the US.
CID speeds up investigation, takes ASI for questioning
Meanwhile, the CID which is investigating the Sowjanya rape and murder case has stepped up its investigation and taken SI Yogish Kumar, who was then the ASI, into questioning.
It may be recalled that allegations were levelled by Thimarodi and the victim's family against Kumar of 'planting evidence' at the crime spot.
The CID also promised that it will file the investigation report within next fifteen days to the government.
Beltangady taluk unit of Campus Front of India (CFI) welcomed the announcement and urged that the suspects identified by the CID in the report be punished without further delay. They have also urged the government to take initiative in the case to uncover the hidden conspiracy in it.
CFI also warned that it will resort to strong protests if the government fails to act on the case.
