Bantwal youth 'justifies' Prof Kalburgi's murder on Twitter, arrested

Daijiworld Media Network - Bantwal

Updated

Bantwal, Aug 31: Bhuvith Shetty, who sparked a controversy after he posted a vitriolic comment on Twitter justifying the murder of renowned scholar and academic Prof M M Kalburgi, has been arrested by the Bantwal police. Prof Kalburgi was shot dead at his residence in Dharwad on Sunday August 30.

ASP Rahul Kumar confirmed the arrest.

Bhuvith Shetty, reportedly the co-convenor of Bantwal unit of Bajrang Dal, not only justified Prof Kalburgi's murder, but also warned that Prof K S Bhagwan, who is known for his controversial comments on Hinduism, would be 'next'.

"Then it was U R Anantamoorty and now its M M Kalburgi. Mock Hinduism and die a dog’s death. And dear K S Bhagwan, you are next," stated the message in his twitter handle @GarudaPurana posted at 10.41 am, just two hours after Prof Kalburgi was shot.

The post stirred up a heated debate on social media, with many retweeting and sharing the post in Facebook too.

Bhuvith deleted the tweets later, but screenshots of the tweets continued to go viral.

The Bantwal police registered a suo motu case against Bhuvith under IPC sections 153 and 506, and sources said that the Bengaluru police too have asked Dakshina Kannada superintendent of police (SP) to take appropriate action.

Last year, Bhuvith, a BCom graduate, had been arrested on charges of attempt to murder when he and other activists of Bajrang Dal tried to stop alleged cattle trafficking.

Sources said that a person named Nilim Dutta has written a letter to the additional chief secretary of the Karnataka home department urging action against Bhuvith.

Bhuvith was later released on bail.

Even though ISIS is engaged in more barbaric acts, still they own what they have done. They do not kill a Teacher and run away like cowards.
Few days back some Indian teachers in Syria were held hostages by ISIS and then when they came to know that those Indian Hostages are in Teaching Profession they were set free with respect. But RSS do not have respect for even Teachers or Professors. They respect only fake swamijis like pranavananda.

No one is justifying what ISIS is doing. But ISIS is accepting their gory crime and ready to face the consequences such as bombardment by US and allied Army and die. But RSS is coward and doing every thing discretely and put the blame on others as they did in malegaon, samjautha express, sindhagi or Hubli.
If RSS is really committed to what they believe then let them openly admit their crime and dare to face legal consequences in court.

I'm happy that almost 70%-80% of my friends are Hindus. They never do like this, neither they treat anybody with any discrimination based on the religion. We are like a family. I really love the way they treat us and vice-versa.

It is sad that in our society too Hindu youngsters are brainwashed by religious fanatics/right wing politicians with radical extremist ideas just as Pakistani "Jihadis" or the DAESH activists. This is an extremely dangerous development for a secular country like ours. They get into mob culture, attack minorities with the slightest provocation and land themselves in deep trouble and ruin their own future as well as of their families.
I am a Muslim or a Christian because I am born in that religion. It's beyond my control. You are a Hindu for the same reason. No religion preaches hatred or extremism. Politicians are playing the communal card for vote bank and poor innocent youngsters are becoming victims of their greed. We have no shortage of uneducated, unemployed youth from poor background who become easy prey in the hands of opportunistic politicians.

There is mention of UR Ananthamurthy, who was not killed but underwent a death of his own for whatever "Karma" he did...

Regaridng MM Kalburgi, I do not endorse the killing. Murderers must be punished.

As far as freedom of speach is concerned, definitely Hindus are not allowed to speak to their heart and Hindu bashers are allowed to speak anything....

Religion is big threat to our society in India. It should keep in our houses and their respective holy places. In public nobody should talk about the religion.
