Dallas, Dec 3: It's the time of the year again when we put the Christmas tree, ornaments, lights and presents out to remind ourselves of the festivities. Words like angels, Santa, reindeer, stocking stuffers; songs like Chestnuts Roasting, Jingle bells, We Wish You a Merry Christmas...are all common with the season of Christmas. But there is a new project that is sounding the horn with the call of the ancient to remind us of the 'Reason for the Season'. That project is called 'King of the Nations'.
This is a brand new concert production that was written, composed and directed by one Joslin D'Souza. Joslin is a native of India and now resides in the United States. A young musical prodigy, who started playing the piano at the age of 4, grew up in a very musical family. He did his musical studies under the curriculum of the Royal School of Music, London and his higher studies at the University of North Texas, USA.
The 2-hour concert event will tell the story of the birth of Christ taken from the Gospels. Unlike the traditional Christmas music, this production has all original material with genres spanning from Rock, Neo Classical, Gypsy, Hip-Hop fused with Choral and Orchestral elements. There are 15 performers on stage, 5 musicians and 8 wonderful singers. The musicians are some of the most talented and celebrated in town. Spanning careers on MTV, Grammy winners and big touring acts. The Children’s Chorus of Collin County, a children’s choir that is one of the most celebrated in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex, will also join the group.
Joslin, son of renowned musician and composer Apolinaris and Joyce D'Souza, hails from Valencia Mangalore, India. He was born in Muscat, Oman, where he did his education at Indian School, Muscat. Joslin studied classical piano under various gifted teachers. He attributes his musical talent to the nurturing from his family from a very young age. "I was surrounded by music all the time. Dad conducted choirs and various functions around town. My brother played the piano while I watched and listened, Mum was the glue that held us all together and both parents inspired me to practice and perfect my art. I started playing and performing at the age of 6. First at church and then many competitions around town."
The new album came out during Thanksgiving of this year. The concerts will debut in the city of McKinney on December 4 and 12, and Plano (Texas) on December 22. It took him 7 years to bring this album and project to its fruition. "A lot of research went into writing these songs. I did not want to write another off the shelf Christmas tune/album. I wanted to write something with meaning."
The website for the project is www.nativityconcert.com. Once there you will see the scope of how big this project really is. The first music video debuted last year and already is on its way to hitting more than 20,000 views. Also this year a brand new Cinematic Trailer was released in promotion for the concerts. Tickets are on sale now and the album comes out this Thanksgiving. So if you are in and around the Dallas area this Christmas, get your tickets now and don’t miss this opportunity to experience the ‘King of the Nations’ through song and music.
