Frankfurt, Sep 13: On the feast of the birthday of Our Blessed Mother Mary, Konkani Kutam eV took the opportunity to celebrate the occasion with splendour. The event was held on the September 8 at St Christophorous Church, Frankfurt, with close to 200 members attending from in and around Germany and from Europe.
The day began with an adoration service where various members offered flowers, sang and gathered around the statue of Mother Mary in veneration. This was followed by a celebration of the Eucharist by priests Fr Robert Rego from Germany and Fr Richard Lobo from Netherlands acting as the concelebrant.
The crux of the homily emphasised living in harmony with one’s family and mutual respect, but most importantly living this life with a fear of God. The celebration of Mass was enriched by the soul-filled choir led by the sisters of Bethany.
Following the Mass, a small cultural programme was held soon after. This gathering commenced with a beautiful welcome dance put up by Sr Stephanie Gonsalves from the Missionary Sisters of the Queen of the Apostles. The audience was formally welcomed in a speech by the vice-president Lionel Lobo.
Our guest of honour for the day, Pratibha Parkar from the Indian Consulate graced the event with her presence and shared a few words of encouragement and appreciation.
The entertainment for the day consisted of a series of dances by various groups, including some enthusiastic performances by children. There was an exciting auction of vegetables, comedy filled skits and a round of housie. To top this, the floor was open to dance with upbeat music by DJ Stephen Lobo.
All in all, the day was a great blend of solemnity and jubilance. The coordination amongst the volunteers of the core committee of Konkani Kutam e.V, as well as the great audience proved this day a day to remember.
