Kodagu BJP leader Kalagi's accident turns out to be murder, three arrested

Madikeri, Mar 29: The death of Kodagu BJP leader Balachandra Kalagi in a recent accident has taken a twist with the police arresting three persons on charges of murder.

Kalagi was the chief secretary of Kodagu district BJP and former president of Sampaje gram panchayat.

On March 19, Kalagi died in an accident between the Omni he was travelling in and a lorry. He was returning from an emegency meet of his party.

However, investigation has revealed that the accident was orchestrated in order to kill Kalagi.

Kodagu SP Suman D P on Friday March 29 informed the media that three persons, identified as Sampath Kumar (34), Hariprasad (36) and Jaya (34) have been arrested in connection to the case.

Kalagi was opposed to the illegal sand mining and other unlawful activities going on in Kodagu and had worked to eliminate them. The BJP had earlier said that this was the reason behind his alleged murder.
