Mangaluru: Suspected coronavirus patient escape - No need to panic, says DC

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Mar 9: Sindhu B Rupesh, deputy commissioner (DC) of Dakshina Kannada district, has asked the public to remain calm and not get tensed because of the escape of the suspected coronavirus patient from Wenlock hospital.

In a statement, DC Sindhu said, "So far there is no case of coronavirus reported in the district of Dakshina Kannada. There is no need for the public to panic. One of the overseas patients, who arrived from Dubai to Mangaluru International Airport, had fever. So we had made arrangements to treat him at Wenlock hospital.

"The patient did not cooperate with the medical officers during the treatment. No one should get confused about this. Now that person is being convinced to undergo medical test but he is still adamant,” she said.

Yes the patient might have panicked because the people around him might have behaved like he has some serious disease.
Instead you need to make the patient understand the pro's and con's of the virus.
The medical experts needs to be soft to the patient has he must be going through a lot.

Has any one thought of re testing the other passengers on the same flight as - if this passenger test to be positive - he could have spread the virus along the way. Has anyone followed up on who is was in contact in Dubai and advised them to get tested ?

    What intelligent?
We should understand the seriousness. She should release the photograph of the man so that public can inform the authorities when they spot him.
In case he is positive for Covid-19, imagine the number of people he might contact!!

Please allow our medical experts and elected officials handle this case. There are many illnesses and situations that produce fever: Malaria, influenza, common cold, pneumonia, dengue fever, kidney failure, compromised liver, dehydration, alcoholism, skin and internal organ infections, etc. We place too much pressure on our experts if we leap into hysteria. If the individual does test positive for the coronavirus, they will inform us. There may be other issues at play in this situation.

This is extremely outrageous !!! Wenlock hospital authorities, should have kept this person segregated, under lock n key for two weeks. How many more persons will he transmit this Coronavirus, to unsuspecting, healthy citizens of Dakshin Kannada district ??? This lethargic approach will certainly increase this epidemic and will create panic and havoc in the entire region !!!

H Almeida ,BendoorOne cant keep a person against his will locked in hospital or room unless he is a mentally sick and a danger to the public. He must have gone out of fear to be in hospital and might be in own house isolated .That is far better .One cant do much to such persons.
