Udupi, Sep 15: The district unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday starting September 17 for a period of 16 days as part of the Seva Pakshika (service fortnight) campaign, said Raghavendra Kini, district media spokesperson.
Speaking to media persons at a press meet held at BJP office at Kadiyali here on Thursday, September 15, he said, "as per the plan of BJP national president J P Nadda and under the guidance of Kuylady Suresh Nayak, BJP district president, an extensive programme to celebrate PM Modi's birthday has been chalked out for which detailed instructions have been given to all the party workers and leaders to celebrate the fortnight as a "Seva Pakhshika" campaign.
According to the plan, Kini said the district BJP plans to conduct 13 service oriented activities everyday till October 2 to coincide with birth anniversary celebrations of Mahatma Gandhiji and Lal Bahadur Shastri. Party founder Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya's birthday will also be celebrated on September 25.
On September 17 and 18, there will be blood donation camps and from September 17 to October 2, there will be a Covid-19 vaccine campaign. On September 20 and 21, an exhibition of Narendra Modi's life journey will be held and on September 21 and 22, a health check-up camp will be held. On September 22 and 23, peepal tree saplings will be planted while Kamalotsava will be held on September 24 and 25.
A meeting of the beneficiaries and a party registration campaign will be conducted from September 24 to 29. Construction of Amrith sarovara will be taken up on September 26 and 27 and Anganawadi Seva Diwas will be held on September 28 and 29. School bags will be distributed and an anti-tuberculosis camp will be held on September 30. A cleanliness drive along with a khadi fest will be held on October 2.
As many as 13 coordinators, co-conveners have been appointed by the district BJP to make this programme into a success.
Kuthyaru Naveen Shetty, general secretary, Ravi Amin, vice president, Mahesh Takhoor, president, Udupi town BJP, Shrinidhi Hegde, media coordinator, Prathap Shetty Cherkady and Shivakumar Ambalpady, co-spokespersons were also present.
