Mangaluru/Udupi, Sep 16: Dakshina Kannada on Friday, September 16, reported nine new coronavirus cases while nine cases were registered in Udupi.

The total number of positive cases in the Dakshina Kannada district has risen to 1,36,926, out of which 57 are currently active. As many as 18 patients were discharged on September 16.

No deaths were reported on September 16. The death toll in the district so far stands at 1,860.

The district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authorities.

Positivity rate for the day stood at 1.26 percent.

So far, the district administration has collected Rs 1,16,05,880 as fine in 96,212 incidents of mask violation.

Udupi

Seven coronavirus cases were reported on September 16. The total active Covid cases are 37.

A total of 10,90,634 people have received the first dose of vaccination and 10,84,950 have received both doses and 2,73,896 people have received booster doses.

Udupi taluk reported six cases and one infection was from other district.
