Kundapur: Blood donation camp held on eve of PM Modi’s birthday

Kundapur, Sep 17: BJP Kundapur Mandala and Yuva Morcha Kundapur held a blood donation camp in the cooperation of Indian Red Cross society Kundapur at the blood bank here on September 17, the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Kundapur MLA Haladi Srinivas Shetty inaugurated the camp.

“Though there is progress in health, science and technology, only blood is an alternative for blood. The awareness about blood donation should be increased. The Red Cross here is indulging continuously in social work. Their building rent issue will be discussed in the committee meeting to find a solution,” he said.

Kundapur Red Cross unit president S Jayakar Shetty said that between 75 to 80 blood donation camps are being held here under the aegis of the units per year and more than ten thousand units of blood is being collected. As many as 400 – 500 people benefit per day from the Jan Aushadhi centre here,” he said.

“BJP has undertaken pro society programmes till October 2 including blood donation camp, cleanliness drive and Anganwadi adoption as part of prime minister’s birthday celebrations,” said BJP mandala president Shanker Ankadakatte.

State food and civil supplies corporation vice president Kiran Kumar Kodgi, Kundapur municipal council president Veena Bhasker Mendon, town project authority president Vijay S Poojary, BJP Yuva morcha state executive member Prajwal, district chief secretary Sadananda Uppinakudru, office bearers of the Red Cross and staff were present.

BJP leaders, office bearers, activists, college students and people took part in the blood donation camp.
