Mumbai: Konkani Committee of Sacred Heart Church celebrates Monthi Fest

Mumbai, Sep 19: The Konkani Committee of Sacred Heart Church, Andheri East, Mumbai, celebrated Monti Fest for the third year in succession on September 11. The devotees gathered in front of the decorated grotto in the church premises.

Fr Salvador Serrao (SVD), blessed the new harvest paddy grains near the Grotto. Children offered flowers to Mother Mary.

Fr Cyril Dsouza (SVD), was the main celebrant and Fr Gregory Pinto (SVD) delivered a meaningful Homily. Fr Innocent Fernandes (SVD), Parish Priest carried Mother Mary statue decorated with flowers in procession to the Church. Fr Calisto Gomes (SVD), Fr Sandesh Patil SVD), Fr Rakesh Dsouza (SVD), Fr Jossie Fernandes (SVD), Fr Sundar Magmai (SVD), Hanson D’Souza (SVD) concelebrated the Mass.

A short cultural programme was organized at St Arnold’s School and College Hall. Konkani Committee members welcomed all with a song dedicated to Mother Mary. The children put up a prayer dance and a Konkani Comedy play was performed by Veronica D’Souza, Francis Pereira, and Allwyn Goveas.

Fr Innocent Fernandes and Fr Calisto Gomes presented flowers to the donors. Konkani Committee Secretary Francis Castelino welcomed the gathering. President, Tressy Peris proposed the vote of thanks and Treasurer Anella Quadros read out the Donors names and thanked them.

Lastly, Novem Jevam was blessed by guest priests Fr Henry D’Souza SVD. All enjoyed the meal. The people left the premises with sugarcane brought from Mangaluru.
