Bantwal, Apr 25: “Dalits have remained backward economically, socially, and educationally since the Indian Constitution incorporated by Dr Ambedkar has not been totally implemented. The least
of Indians will lead a self-sufficient life if all the aspects of the constitution are fully implemented. If this is to happen, a united struggle is essential,” said BSP state president Marasandra Muniyappa.
Muniyappa was speaking after inaugurating the Dakshina Kannada district Dalit Jagrati Samavesh at B C Road here on Sunday April 24.
“Dalits are being used by political parties for vote bank politics. The atrocities on Dalits are also on the rise. Reservation or other such facilities will not solve the problem. It’s their right to get redressal of
their legitimate demands,” added Muniyappa.
Dakshina Kannada district-in-charge minister Krishna J Palemar was the chief guest on the occasion. He said that Bantwal town council has taken up the project to build Ambedkar Samudaya Bhavan at B C
Road and the infrastructure in this regard will be provided by the state administration.
Swami Vishveshateerta of Pejavar Mutt, Swami Shashikant of Kanyana Mutt, Swami Kapilanand of Kamalakatte Mutt, Loretto parish priest Fr Cyprian Pinto, Bantwal Jumma Masjid chief S I Hanif Darimi, and state Dalit Mahasabha president H K Basavaraj Davanagere also spoke on the occasion.
