Mangalore: SVP, Rosario Parish to Organize Mass Wedding on May 1

Mangalore, Apr 26: Society of St Vincent De Paul of Rosario Cathedral church will organize an annual mass wedding at the church here on Sunday May 1.

The objective of the mass wedding programme is to help young men and women from less privileged economic backgrounds to marry with dignity and solemnity at minimal cost.

Bishop Robert Miranda of Gulbarga diocese will be the main celebrant for the nuptial ceremony.

Central excise and service tax inspector Steven Dias will be the chief guest at the felicitation programme.

This is the 37th annual mass wedding programme wherein so far 550 couples have joined in holy matrimony.

Twenty-six couples from various parts of Mangalore diocese and other dioceses will tie the knot on Sunday. Around 2,000 guests are expected to participate in the celebration.

Apart from the wedding ceremony, each couple is gifted with dress materials, household articles, and fixed deposits of Rs 5,000. The total cost per couple will amount to Rs 15,000.

St Vincent De Paul Society has been undertaking this mega project every year with the help of philanthropists and kind-hearted donors.
