Daijiworld Media Network – Puttur (SP)

Putur, Apr 26: The foundation stone laying ceremony for the expansion programme of the KSRTC bus stand here, which was proposed to be held on Tuesday April 26, has been postponed. This programme was to be held long back, but every time it is getting put off.

State transport minister, R Ashok, was to lay the foundation stone for the expansion plan estimated to cost around eight crore rupees, apart from inaugurating the fire brigade office and residential quarters today. However, as he went on a foreign trip, the programme got postponed. Ashok came back to Bangalore on April 22, but the postponement of the programmed stayed.

This expansion plan of the KSRTC bus stand here is getting neglected since 1995. In the past, there was a reason that the legislators from Puttur were from the opposition party. However, now the MLA from here belongs to the ruling party. Still, the expansion of the bus stand is not happening.

Laying of foundation stone also is getting repeatedly pushed back since the last three years. Tender was called and contractors have been fixed. Laying of foundation stone was the only thing that remained for the works to begin. It is gathered that in likelihood, the minister will lay the foundation stone for the project during the first week of May.
