Udupi: Death of cyclist – Tempo driver sentenced to prison

Udupi, Oct 4: A tempo driver, who caused the death of a cyclist was sentenced to prison by the first additional CJ and JMFC court of the city.

On August 18, 2017, Tempo driver Umesh Poojary (30) had hit cyclist B Ramananada Rao near Manjunatha Petrol bunk at Heroor village. Ramananda Rao had succumbed to the head injuries after the accident.

CI of Brahmavar-Udupi police station Srikant K had filed chargesheet in the court. Justice Shyamprakash sentenced accused Umesh to 2.5 years in prison and slapped a fine of Rs 10,000.

Assistant public prosecutor Mohini K argued for the prosecution.
