Udupi, Oct 7: Most of the employees of Blue Flag beach at Endpoint in Padubidri were absent to work on Thursday, went to DC’s office at Rajatadri at Manipal and filed complaint accusing that many scams are taking place at Blue Flag beach.

In their appeal, the 22 contract employees, said, “The work environment is spoilt since the past 15 months. Fake receipts are issued for boat riding. The money collected is not deposited into the account of tourism department. Instead the money goes to the account of a private individual. This issue is raised earlier with DC and assistant director of tourism department but no action is taken.”

The employees also said that they have threat on their life by the two supervisors at the beach. They urged for justice.

When Clifford Lobo, acting assistant director of tourism department was approached, he said, “This is the result of internal friction between the workers at Blue Flag beach. Employment is given to local people and they are getting paid on time. Official receipts are issued for boating and entrance. Everyday evening, the accounts are done and the amount is credited to the account of tourism department very next day. If the employees, who have raised the issue, provide suitable documents, action will be taken.”
