New Delhi: Laden Gone - Now we Should Hunt for Dawood : Modi

New Delhi, May 3: ‘I am happy about the death of Osama Bin Laden. We now need to hunt down Dawood Ibrahim. Indian government should now initiate immediate steps to catch Dawood Ibrahim dead or alive,’ tweeted Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, on Twitter. His comment came immediately after US president, Barack Obama, announced that Osama had been killed.
Modi appears to have echoed the sentiments of a majority of Indians. Like Osama, Dawood has financed and masterminded destructive activities spanning from cold-blooded murders, abductions for ransom, terrorist activities and bomb blasts in India. Perhaps, the only difference between the two notorious personalities is that Osama unleashed terror in USA, while Dawood’’s activities are aimed at India. Pakistan appears to have played an important role in shielding both of them.
While Osama’s attack on World Trade Centre dealt a terrible blow to the ego of USA, serial bomb blasts of 1993 in Mumbai unnerved the citizens of the metro and raised concerns of safety in India, among other countries. These blasts had shaken the confidence of the people, and scores had lost their close ones.
Dawood since then has joined hands with Al Qaeda after fleeing to Pakistan. He has been meddling with peace in India through his aides, now and then. Pakistan has repeatedly said that Dawood does not live in that country, but India and several other countries believe this claim to be false. India perhaps now needs to aggressively follow the issue, and should not rest till Dawood is caught or killed. Those who engage in destructive activities and wage war against the Indian government should never be allowed to go Scot free.
