Mangaluru: Viral fever on rise in Dakshina Kannada

Mangaluru, Oct 14: Viral fever is on the rise in the district of Dakshina Kannad due to the intermittent rains.

The health department is conducting a survey on the same. From the past one week, teams of health department are visiting houses.

Usually health department carries out fever survey during monsoon season only. However, this year the rains are still on and viral fever is more. This may lead to dengue, malaria, chikungunya and Covid in future. Due to this concern, the health department is holding a survey.

There are 66 primary health care centres and 12 city health centres in the district. The teams are working through these centres. Asha workers and primary health safety officers visit houses and examine people.

If more than one person in a house is having fever, such cases are referred to the district level officer. They will immediately take action.

Dr Kishore Kumar, health officer of the district says, “Covid is under control in the district. As festivals are plenty in this season, movement of people is more. The rain also is playing the spoilsport. All these are affecting the health of people. So it is necessary to conduct fever survey.”

Dr Satish Shankar of Ganjimath Ayur Sparsha hospital says, “There is something called as Ruthusandhi in Ayurveda. This is more when rainy season ends and winter begins. Sickness will be more during this time. So people have to give more importance to their health.”
