Mangaluru, Oct 15: The Digvijaya Mahotsava of Kashi Math Samsthana seer Samyameendra Theertha was held at the city's Venkataramana temple as part of the Chaturmasya rituals on Saturday.
Thousands of devotees were witness to the event who came from all parts of the country.
The Chaturmasya procession began from the front portion of the temple on the car street and passed through Mahamayi temple road, Gaddekeri, Manjeshwara Govinda Pai circle, Ammembala Subbarao Pai road, Dongarakeri, New Chitra junction, Basavanagudi road, Chammaragalli, Kelaratha road and ended at the Venkataramana temple.
The colourful procession was marked by the presence by elephants, horses, saxophone team, panchavadya Chendevaadana and the attractive Nasik band team, tiger dance team and tableaus along with the presence of cultural and team of artists.
The procession was welcomed by residents of the localities through which it passed by lighting of lamps. The residents had also tied colourful buntings and gave the streets a colourful facelift. The seer distributed prasadam to the devotees and the residents along the route of the procession.
