Shillong, May 4 (IANS): An earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale jolted the Meghalaya capital Shillong Wednesday morning, an official said.
The tremor was felt at 6.22 a.m., with the epicentre located 20 km from the Regional Seismological Centre in Upper Shillong.
India's northeast is considered the world's sixth most quake-prone belt.
