Lucknow, May 4 (PTI) JD(U) president and former civil aviation minister Sharad Yadav today said the state-owned Pawan Hans helicopter service was not working properly and the organisation should be revamped.
"Pawan Hans is not working properly and the government should revamp the organisation," Yadav told reporters here on a question on recent accidents involving Pawan Hans choppers.
Alleging laxity on the part of Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the JD-U leader said it should function more strictly.
"Certainly there was some lapse...without it accidents don't take place," he said.
He said it is DGCA's responsibility to ensure proper maintenance of aircraft and choppers.
Arunachal Pradesh CM Dorjee Khandu along with four others went missing after his Pawan Hans helicopter, which departed from Tawang at 10:56 am failed to arrive in Itanagar at its scheduled 11:30 am landing time on April 30.
