Moscow, May 5 (IANS/AKI) A top Al Qaeda militant in Chechnya has been killed by Russian security forces, officials said.
Doger Sevdet - also known as Abdulla Kurd - was a Turkish national who fought alongside Chechen rebels, the Russian National Anti-Terrorist Committee said in a statement.
Sevdet moved to the Northern Caucasus region in 1991 after the Soviet Union collapsed.
He eventually became Al Qaeda's senior leader in the region, responsible for international money transfers.
Russia two weeks ago had killed another top-ranked Al Qaeda militant, a Saudi named Moganned.
