Sullia, Oct 20: A man, resident of Nintikallu of the taluk was cheated Rs 7000 on the pretext of providing Rs 1.20 lac under a PM Modi scheme. A case in this connection is registered in Bellare police station.
A stranger approached an arecanut businessman of Nintikallu on October 18 and enquired about the arecanut price at first. During the conversation, the stranger said to the arecanut businessman that there is a scheme of PM Modi in which the trader can get Rs 1.20 lac and whether the trader has received the same. The trader said that he has not received any such amount. The stranger told the trader that he will speak to bank people and called someone on phone and had conversation.
After the telephonic conversation, the stranger said that the trader needs to pay Rs 7000 to the bank and then he will be given the cheque. The gullible arecanut trader gave the stranger Rs 7000. The stranger said that he will bring the cheque from the bank and did not return.
The arecanut trader came to know that he has been taken for a ride by the stranger when he did not turn up after taking Rs 7000. A case is filed in Bellare police station in this connection.
