Rs 1000 fine for not wearing seat belts on rear seats in Karnataka

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Oct 20: The state government has taken out an order to impose a fine of Rs 1000 for those who do not wear seat belt. The police department has issued the order based on the instruction of union road and highways ministry.

Till now, Rs 500 fine was imposed to those not wearing seat belt. However, due to the recent increase in the number of accidents, the government took out the new order.

Passengers travelling by vehicles having maximum seating capacity of eight people must wear seat belt mandatorily. Passengers travelling by car and private vehicles also should wear seat belt as per the order.

It is just a business world, kick back from all corners. Loot maar bhayi. How many seat belts a four wheeler can have ? Necessarily, it hints at indirect restriction on commuters, back door entry of the manufacturing houses, sales and services of the four wheeler which can not be ruled out The days wont be far even the potholes may not be repaired nor road be made and the woes of the pedestrians and the cyclist no one to hear, all the cries of the ordinary people fall on the deaf ears. In short time even the city busses may be asked to fix the seat belt or else pay the fine. "Without any policy and direction" people are compelled to adhere to "manmaani" fines and taxes.

The intention of this Rule is not to save lives, but clearly loot money out of it... Look at the conditions of the Roads - No one is bothered. If you see the road accident statistics, many more people died because of the pathetic road conditions compared to people who died not wearing seat belts in the rear seats!!! Now tell me, who will make money out of it and where that money will be directed to??? Jai Hind!!!

This is what happens when you have a double engine government. If any well known person dies while walking on the road, then there will be a rule for pedestrians to use helmets.

What is the fine for politicians for not keeping up their promises? What is the fine for officials responsible for all shoddy road work? Common middle class citizen is easy tartget for everyone in India.. no wonder people who have opportunities are relinquishing the Indian citizenship and settling down in bettr countries.

Building super highways with borrowed money from World Bank & IMF facilitating speeds which are more than safe on Indian roads. Vehicle speeds are not limited which is far beyond safe limit which are major contributors to back seat passengers deaths. When India had Ambassador Cars there were no seats belts at all & accidents didn't cause that many casualties as their speeds were below 100Kms. All vehicles are tested below 100 Kms but our lighter vehicles can speed minimum 120 to 150kms which is asking for disaster. First provide better roads with safety in mind & then limit vehicle producers to limit their speeds then only it is logical, but it is illogical to expect seat belts to prevent deaths or serious injuries. Punishing people who are already suffering due to bad governance is money loot by govt. just like fuel & toll loot.

Looks like State Govt's only intention here is to make money by imposing orders by Center. The Center order which will benefit common man they will never implement or delay indefinitely. If they really want to reduce accidents first they should repair potholes, street lights and complete rain water drainage work. One example of ignoring Center order is Surathakal Toll.

More accidents happened recently is owing to bad roads. In Bangalore many died due to potholes. More than half of the cars being run in Karnataka do not have seat belts in the rear seats. What they should do ? Purchase new cars having seat belts in the rear ? Why leave buses and lorries, let all people wear seat belts also. Because most of the accidents happening, are by/through the big vehicles.

I totally agree with safety precautions but Hundreds of poor and middle class people die in road accidents because of poor road conditions but government completely ignore it. As soon as One rich person dies (Cyrus Mistry), all focus is on air bags and seatbelt’s.

What will the contractors do my friend? They have to shell out 40% to all the "STAKEHOLDERS" and the 10% in advance... So in 50% budget what do you expect ? 3 layers of asphalt will be reduced to 1 ! Does anyone checks the quality control????

Those who died it's because of faulty construction of roads or over speeding. Now the general public will have to shell out money. And the present double engine Government is waiting for a chance to squeeze money from people.

In our country, govt and police department is fit only to penalise people for not hearing helmets, seatbelt’s and tinted glass. They go blind when real traffic violations happen like jumping signal, riding on footpaths, one ways and creating problem to others. Also, they are unable to see the horrible road conditions.
