New York, May 6 (IANS) General Motors (GM) has initiated a recall covering over 154,000 units of its popular Chevrolet Cruze cars from the North American market, due to steering and transmission problems, a media report said.
Citing the Detroit Free Press, Xinhua reported that the recall covers only the 2011 model of the Cruze.
The carmaker will recall about 154,000 Cruze in the US and Canada in order to inspect proper installation of the steering shaft.
Among recalled vehicles, 120,000 vehicles with automatic transmission will also be inspected for another problem - drivers believing they are in a different gear than is actually engaged.
The company said cars unsold at dealerships will also be inspected.
