Mumbai, May 6 (IANS) A benchmark index for Indian equities markets Friday shot up in morning trade while broader indices managed moderate gains.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) which opened at 18,289.78 points was ruling at 18,381.59 points, up 171.01 points or 0.94 percent from its previous close at 18,210.58 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading in the green at 5,506.2 points, up 0.85 percent.
Broader markets too rose, with the BSE midcap index up 0.6 percent and the BSE small cap index up 0.66 percent.
