Udupi, Oct 20: “Disposing of the idols and pictures that we worship during house renovations or when they break or tear is our duty and responsibility,” said municipal councillor Vijaya Kodavoor.
He was speaking after inaugurating the unique programme ‘Chaya Dharma Jagruthi’ organised by South Canara Photographers Association Udupi zone, Kodavoor ward development committee and Udupi district Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Abhimani Balaga. He commended the photographers who love their profession and separate the pictures of deities in a suitable manner.
Some places are already identified for information and campaigns. The holy pictures on the roadside were disposed of properly and signboards with information were hung. The programme will be held every week. Photos in about 20 podiums were cleared and the places were cleaned up.
Vaman Padukere, Santhosh Pandubettu, Pravin Corea, Sukesh Amin, Santhosh Korangrapadi, Poornima Janardhan, Shivaprasad Belkale, Sushanth Keremata, Prajwal Katpadi, Prakash Kodankooru, K Vasudeva Rao, Nidesh Kumar and Siddabasayya Swamy Chikkamata were present.
President Janardhan Kodavoor welcomed. Chaya Dharma Jagrathi convener Surabhi Ratan rendered the vote of thanks.
