Kadaba, Oct 21: In an incident that occurred on Thursday near Kaniyoor of the taluk, two chain snatchers got injured as their car overturned while they were trying to escape after robbing the chain from a woman.

The injured are identified as Ramishuddin (25) and Rafiq (30), residents of Polali Addoor.

Ramishuddin and Rafiq went to the house of Kitta, resident of Dolpady village in a car on the pretext of selling woollen blankets. They observed that a lone woman was in the house. As the woman was checking the woollen blankets, both accused tried to snatch the golden chain on the neck of the woman. However, the woman managed to prevent them from snatching the chain and also screamed in loud voice. As the neighbours rushed to the spot, the thieves took their car and escaped.

As the car of thieves was going to Punchatharu from Dolpady, public waylaid the vehicle. The thieves took a U-turn and went to Kaniyoor Cross Road. When they observed that the public has gathered there too, they drove the car in high speed. When the public started chasing the car, the car of thieves got overturned and the accused received minor injuries.

Kadaba police are probing further.
