Kundapur, Oct 21: The SLRM unit of panchayat has fined a resident for throwing trash on the highway here.

A woman identified as Kalpana, staying in a rented house near Thakkate gram panchayat was caught while throwing trash on the highway on Friday morning, October 21. Revathi, of the panchayat SLRM unit found in the trash the address of Kalpana, questioned her and fined her Rs 500 through the panchayat.

Similar incidents have occurred in the panchayat limits for some time. People staying in rented houses and apartments have been throwing trash on nearby roads and made the places shabby. Though bags are distributed for trash through the panchayat SLRM units, some people are throwing plastics and other waste on both sides of the road. Environmentalists opine that huge fine should be levied on such people.
