Shubhashree Ranganath Manipal wins Daijiworld Udupi’s ‘Rangina Rangoli’

Udupi, Oct 22: Shubhashree Ranganath Manipal won the first prize in ‘Rangina Rangoli 2022’, a rangoli making competition organized by Daijiworld Udupi, Kishoo Enterprises in association with St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady.

The competition received a tremendous response from the public. The competition was held at St Mary’s English Medium School, Kannarpady.

Surekha Bhat Parkala and Prashanth Udupi won the second and third prizes respectively. Rs 5,000 Rs, 4,000 Rs 3,000 cash prizes along with certificate and trophy was awarded to the top three winners respectively.

Vidya Vishwesh Manipal, Nagendra Kota and Sumithra Bhat Parkala won the three consolation prizes of Rs 1,000 each along with certificates.

Dinesh Shettigar, marketing manager Abharan Jewellers and Srivatsa R Ballal, AGM marketing Prakash Retail Pvt Ltd inaugurated the competition by lighting the diyas.

Addressing the gathering, Dinesh Shettigar said, “This is the third time Rangina Rangoli competition is being held. Let this continue. Participants are the centre focus of any competitions. A large number of participants have come today for the competitions and this is really a good sign.”

Inaugurating the competition Srivatsa R Ballal, AGM marketing Prakash Retail Pvt Ltd said, “Several people are taking part in this competition today. Lopamudra, wife of Agastya seer took the five colours from the Panchatatva and created an art which is today popularly known as rangoli. As per another mythological evidence in Gujarat, when Lord Krishna settled in Dwaraka, his wife Rukmini drew a pattern in the outskirts of her house. These patterns are believed to be the expression of her happiness. Rangoli creates happiness and positivity. I wish all the participants the best.”

Poornima Janardhan, renowned poetess and artist and Vaani, drawing teacher of SMS School Brahmavar were the judges for the competition.
The valedictory programme was held soon after the completion of the judgment. Rita Quadrous, vice principal St. Mary’s English medium school (CBSE) Kannarpady was the chief guest for the valedictory programme.

Speaking on the occasion, Rita Quadros said, “I congratulate Daijiworld Udupi for organizing this competition. It was a joy to watch the beautifully created artistic rangolis. I congratulate all the participants for their efforts. A 6-year-old child was also preparing the rangoli. It is a gift given by our elders. I wish everyone a very happy Deepavali.”

Sharing the experience of judging the competition, Poornima Janardhan said, “Rangoli is a part and parcel of our Indian culture. Even today, Indians draw rangoli outside their homes. Krishna loved rangoli the most. Rangoli is a tool to adore Lord Krishna and make him happy. Pookalum designed using flowers is very popular in Kerala. Various cereals are also used to make rangoli. It is a platform to impress the Lord through human creativity.”

Vaani, drawing teacher SMS School Brahmavar said, “It was a good experience. Everyone has shown creativity. This is a very good platform for showcasing talents. In the modern times these days, various types of rangolis have emerged, but traditionally it was dotted rangoli earlier.”

Kevin Rodrigues, manager, Daijiworld Udupi welcomed the gathering. Justin D’Silva rendered the vote of thanks. Pragathi Puthran compered the programme. Roopa Shalet Mascarenhas, event coordinator staff of Daijiworld Udupi, and the family members of participants were present.

The dignitaries distributed the prizes to the winners.
