Chamrajnagar, Oct 23: In a shocking incident that took place on the evening of Saturday, October 22 at Hangala of Gundlupet taluk, the state housing, infrastructure and district in-charge minister V Somanna slapped a woman in the title deed distribution programme for beneficiaries of rural areas.
The video clip of the minister slapping the woman has gone viral on social media. The incident took place when Hangala Gram Panchayat was distributing the title deeds to 173 site beneficiaries.
Some women tried to gherao the minister accusing discrimination in the selection of beneficiaries. They said that sites are allotted to those who already hold government land and injustice is meted to them. They also said that sites are allotted to people who Congress leader Nanjappa recommended.
During the programme a woman by the name Kempamma approached the minister to apprise him of her woes. The minister, in a fit of rage, slapped her.
