Diverse culture of Karnataka distorted by BJP: Rahul Gandhi

Raichur, Oct 23 (IANS): Rahul Gandhi after completing the 22-day leg of Bharat Jodo Yatra in Karnataka attacked the state government and alleged that "40 per cent commission government" was running in the state, and its diverse culture was being distorted.

In a statement on Sunday he said, "The state that once spearheaded India's growth story is now known all over for the '40% Commission' government that exemplifies the BJP's model of suit, boot, loot sarkar. Corruption at an unprecedented scale-pay for jobs, pay for contracts, pay for public services...there is nothing that is not up for sale for the BJP in Karnataka. The erosion of social harmony and the public sector is paralysing economic progress and hitting the poor and vulnerable the hardest."

He alleged that the unbounded potential of its people was being crippled. Farmers growing any crop from every region are struggling to support their families due to rising costs, uncertain yields, and fluctuating prices.

"The youth are unable to find opportunities that meet their aspirations despite repeated attempts. Small entrepreneurs are shutting shop with inadequate or no support, and a market that is tilted heavily in favour of a few big players. MGNREGA workers, women workers, weavers, and many others are staring at shrinking incomes. Disadvantaged sections of the society and minorities face a rising tide of hatred and violence. The languages, the diverse cultures and the history of the state are being distorted and decimated," he added.

He said that the Congress party will not allow this garden of peace to be turned into a laboratory for the BJP's experiments with hatred and misgovernance.

"Through the untiring efforts of our state leaders, drawing on the rich cultures of Karnataka, and the support of crores of Kannadigas, that day will soon come when we will unleash Karnataka's true potential through the path of love, peace and harmony," he added.

Mr Rahul, Please analyze the background of your projected candidates before campaigning here in Karnataka. Just imagine what would happen if Leadership goes into such hands. Try to get clean candidates before competing here against any party. We wont allow the Leadership to fall into such corrupt hands at any cost.

India is blessed with diverse culture, traditions and religions. One doesn’t get bored experiencing same old repeated celebrations of one culture for life. It’s like living with all the people’s of the world of different region and other background in the same place at the same time without travelling. But unfortunately our leaders have exploited this treasure trove for it’s self gain by sowing a seed of hatred and polarized people of different backgrounds. This is not good for this govt either as history has proved around our neighbours and other fanatic countries.

Demolishers of secular democratic norms and dividers of people's unity on the basis of cast, creed, Religion, minority/majority, justice to limited favourites, promoters of immoral & right-wing activists' organizations, hiding names of the criminals and their spongers who are involved in revenge killings, using IT, ED, NIA, CBI powers only on opposition members., must face the humiliating defeat from public who believe in democracy and brotherhood for peaceful coexistence. Enough of 8 years devastating rule and blasters of Indian economy.
