Mangaluru, Oct 23: Lightning struck a house and caused extensive damage on October 21 at Bannadka under Padumarnadu Gram Panchayat limits of Moodbidri taluk.

The electrical switchboard and wiring of the house of Sujatha was completely burnt due to lightning strike. In addition, electrical and electronic household goods worth Rs 50,000 were also damaged.

Sujatha and her mother were inside the house when the mishap occurred but both escaped without injuries. Naga Bana, which is adjacent to the house also was struck by lightning and partially damaged. Panchayat PDO Anil visited the house and conducted spot inspection.

    First of all thank God no one injured in such a lightning case.Thing we can replace but not human lives.Sure it is sad got lot of loss due to that.Why cant one put off main switch when lightning starts ?Second can one not take measurements to avoid such things like install on top of house or outside against this?SO that lightning strikes there not electric Board or house?These days when house is in a higher place there is more likely to strike it elsewhere.
