Udupi: Tempo causes serial accident, driver caught by locals, handed over to police

Udupi, Oct 24: A tempo transporting scrap material overturned near bus stand besides Kutyaru Suryachaitanya school at Shirva on the evening of Sunday.

The tempo was carrying scrap from Shirva to Kolnad in Mulki. First it hit an active scooter on the bend at Kutyaru Upparige Mane and injured Rafiq.

A little further the tempo hit one more Honda Activa at the bend near the house of Sampath Kumar and injured Sadashiva Acharya, rider of the active. The scooter of Sadashiva is completely damaged. Luckily he escaped from serious injury.

After causing two accidents, the tempo did not stop and finally overturned near Surya Chaitanya school. Tempo driver Kalandar Shah (38), resident of Kolnad escaped from the spot. Locals caught him and handed over to the police.

Shirva police is investigating further.

    Common factor is always stolen material, nervousness to escape in no time out of range. Beg borrow steal maim back stab cheat and keep oneself & ones own family happy at grave cost to others families

    may be the driver was tense to get the scrap to the point fast as it was Sunday and minority community people always work hard to make ends meet....but he should have considered that there are others on the road also...lucky he was not beaten like the two bed sheet sellers in Sullia.
