Sullia: Assault on bedsheet selling youths – Six arrested

Sullia, Oct 24: Bellare police arrested six people in connection with the murderous assault on two Muslim youths, bedsheet sellers, near Kaniyoor in a bid to kill them.

Puneet, Raju, Prasad, Kishore, Bhavit and Ranjit are the arrested accused. The gang attacked Rafiq and Ramizuddin, bed sheet sellers, accusing them of trying to sexually harass a woman on the pretext of selling bed sheets. It is accused that the victims were beaten continuously for two hours in addition to running bikes over them.

Meanwhile, Minister Angara visited the house of victim woman, who is alleged to have been sexually harassed by Rafiq and Ramizuddin and gathered information on October 23.

A case was registered against bed sheet seller Ramizuddin and Rafiq of attempting to sexually harass the woman belonging to scheduled caste, resident of Dolpady.

Speaking to press, Angara said, “The incident that occurred at Dolpady is condemnable. In order to hide the truth, KFD, SDPI and Congress are trying to create false opinion about the whole incident. Stringent action will be taken against the accused.”
