Kundapur: Kollur hopes for respite from power woes with new electrical sub station

Kundapur, Oct 25: State energy minister Sunil Kumar said, “In all, 200 transformer banks have been constructed in Karnataka in order to provide 24-hour quality electricity supply. Energy department has turned into a people-friendly department. The long awaited electrical sub station of the people of Kollur is built at a cost of Rs 14.5 crore.”

Sunil was speaking after inaugurating the 1.5 MVA 33/11 KV Kollur sub station.

The minister further said, “The BJP government has formed several schemes for the convenience of the people. Through the Belaku scheme, electricity supply was given without the need of NoC from the Panchayat. In one year, 2.5 lac houses have been provided with electricity. The officials visit every village on the third Saturday of the month and listen to their grievances."

“The state government is giving scholarships to the children of farmers through Vidyanidhi scheme. Through Grama One centres, services of government are available to the public nearby. Through the revenue department, the pension is door-delivered within 72 hours of application.”

Presiding over the function, B M Sukumara Shetty, MLA of Byndoor said, “People of five villages of this area were facing voltage issues. As the electricity wires were passing through 12 acres of forest, an issue was created. Through minister Sunil Kumar, the hurdles for the project were removed and today people have received a permanent solution to their problem. This has caused convenience to 1750 electrical pump sets.

“Last year 150 women from this locality complained to me that if they needed to put rice in the grinder, they needed to think 10 times as the voltage was low. Now a permanent solution is worked out.”

Sukumar requested minister Sunil Kumar to get underground cabling done in Kollur as it is a famous pilgrimage centre. He also brought to the notice of the minister the low voltage issue faced by residents of Karkunje, Vandse and Amparu and urged for a substation at Karkunje.

Trustee of Basrur Mahalingeshwara temple B Appanna Hegde and contractor Dr Udayachandra Suvarna, owner of Jyothi Electricals, Mangaluru were felicitated.

Golihole Gram Panchayat president Indira, Kollur Gram Panchayat president Santhosh Bhat, Jadkal Gram Panchayat president Vanajakshi S Shetty, Idoor-Kunjadi Gram Panchayat president Ameen Shetty, Keradi Gram Panchayat president Girija Shedti and Kalthodu Gram Panchayat president Netravati Achar were present.

A compensation of Rs 1 lac was given to the family members of a person who died of electric shock recently at Saukuru.

Superintendent engineer P Dinesh Updahya welcomed the gathering and did the introduction. Ambika Malatesh offered prayers. Executive engineer Rakesh B proposed vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Vishwanatha.
