This is very unfortunate but people walk without looking left or right. They are engrossed with their phones to bother with oncoming traffic. Dubai is very strict with jaywalkers and have fences to stop people from crossing but there in Dubai the motorists have to pay a very heavy fine if they accidentally kill someone while driving but in India life has no value so hit and forget. If people are more careful while walking and getting off the moving busses (endemic to mangalore) then the fatalities will reduce drastically.
