Udupi: ICYM Pangla to organize 17th Konkani singing competition on Oct 30

Udupi, Oct 29: With an aim to provide a platform for budding singers in Udupi, ICYM Unit of St John Evangelist Church, Pangla is organising Udupi diocesan level inter-parish Konkani singing competition for the 17th year. The competitions will be held on Sunday October 30 at the church hall from 9 am onwards.

St John Evangelist Church, Pangla is celebrating its centenary year. ICYM unit of Pangla has successfully conducted 16 editions of the singing competition since 2003. Due to the covid outbreak, it was not held for the past two years. The 17th Konkani singing competition will see a sea of emerging singers from all over the Udupi diocese.

The competition will be held in ten various categories for boys, girls, men and women and a duet category. More than 700 participants are expected to participate in the competition.

Children are allocated two age categories, under 10, and between ages 11 and 15. Each category comprises girls' solo singing, boys' solo singing, and group singing.

Adults may contest in male solo singing, female solo singing, mixed duet and group singing.

Prizes

Top three teams with the highest number of prizes will get cash prizes. An award of Rs 7,777 will be given to the winning team, Rs 6,666 to the first runner-up, and Rs 5,555 to the second. Shields will also be presented.
