Daijiworld Media Network – Sullia (MS)

Sullia, Oct 30: In a heart-wrenching incident that is reported from Kootkunja village under Subramanya police station limits, a mentally depressed mother threw her 10-day-old baby into a well on the evening of Saturday.

Pavithra, a resident of Bastikadu of Kootkunja village is the woman who threw her infant into the well. She was suffering from post natal depression and was under treatment for the same. The incident took place when no one was around at home.

Pavithra had married Manikanta of Shira taluk of Tumkur district a year ago. She gave birth to a baby boy 10 days ago. Pavithra was apparently unhappy that a baby boy was born to her though she liked to have a baby girl and threw the infant after refusing to accept it.

After throwing the baby into the well, Pavithra ran inside her room in the house. Others who came to know the matter, brought the baby up immediately and took it to Panja government hospital. However, the doctor said that the baby had already breathed its last.

In a complaint that is filed at Subramanya police station, it is stated that Pavithra wished to have a baby girl when she got pregnant. As her wish was not fulfilled, she threw the baby boy into the well.

Murder is Murder. She has committed murder and should be punished with life sentence. This is not mental distress, she killed the child because the child is boy. Earlier they used to kill girl children, now they are killing boy children

real kujuma kodial,What did you not hear before?Post natal depression is common by women due to many reasons. But many times women wish boys in Hindus a girl is less. However home people shouldnt have left her alone when she was having depression. Its hard.Poor baby had no chance to live .Heartfelt sympathy to the family. She should be watched further .Can also still harm herself and treat her (Kujuma This is only by women after delivery.Dont think of political)
